Cross-curriculum workshops and performances (MFL - German, History, English, Music, Drama and more)

Picture
In collaboration with teachers of German, Fraulein Maria has launched a German language musical performance of songs from the Weimar Germany period and beyond. Music from Kurt Weill to Friedrich Hollaender (songs from Marlene Dietrich, the Comedian Harmonists, to Zara Leander).

Pre-show drama-based workshops accompany these shows which aim to encourage current and future learners of German in secondary schools as well as provide a unique cross curricular experience of European history, arts, language and culture.

Teacher Testimonials
I thought the mix of English and German was good so as not to leave students high and dry...a good performance with a few simple props and dramatic delivery of the songs. The interactive bits were effective... I enjoyed the chance to sing 'Stille Nacht'.I thought it was well worth doing.Teacher,German Department

I enjoyed it, Y8s and 9s...should be exposed to all sorts of things to broaden their minds!

Superb! It will be great for Y10s studying the early Weimar period! If I can get the music I'll certainly be referring to it in lessons. From a historical point of view, I think the background she did to the songs was great.
